As a social worker, I spend a lot of time with many different families trying to explain how to discipline their children appropriately. Many parents today give in when their children whine, cry, and/or beg. This is the wrong approach. As the book says, parents should be firm and their children should know that their parent is being serious. The book includes many great examples of how to use the disciplinary practices discussed. John Rosemond helps parents to understand that they are the parent and that they have the final say in what happens in their home. Many parents do not understand this as they want to be friends with their children and they do not want to be over controlling with their children. John Rosemond has many years of experience as a parent and psychologist. His wisdom is good, but, as with any resource out there, you need to see if this will work for your child. Not all children react to discipline techniques the same way. This book challenges parents and caregivers to think about how they are disciplining the children they care for and about if their techniques are really working. I would recommend this book to parents and caregivers.

Diamond Rio- Beautiful Mess (Book Review)

Diamond Rio's book "Beautiful Mess" was very interesting. It details their story from the beginning. It tells the story of all six of the band members from early on in their lives until now. The book describes how the six men came together as a band and made their way to the top. It seems slow at first, but once you get into it it’s definitely worth reading! I really enjoyed reading this book. It enlightened me about the story of Diamond Rio. I grew up listening to them and I think that they are an amazing band with an amazing story. Reading about the hardships that the men faced lets you see that they are real people with real live, not just famous country music stars. This book is great for any Diamond Rio fans and anyone who has had struggles in their lives. The men of Diamond Rio have overcame their circumstances and made it big in the world of country music. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone I know.
